Forensics: Is fairness in the NYPD’s DNA? – Sarah Chu says NO!

In essence, the cops demand the Medical Examiner follow their bidding. The MEs object. The cops want to keep their powerbase sancrosanct. Thats why the lie to the public about their “fair” unregulated DNA archive.

In recent days, the NYPD’s Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison has championed a “fair and balanced” use of the police department’s DNA database as an “innocence tool.” While our innocent clients surely benefit from the presence of DNA databases, let’s be clear: The database to which Harrison refers is unauthorized. In fact, it exists outside of New York State law, and operates without adequate oversight. That must change.
