Forensics: Lack of effective police oversight: A Watchdog Accused Officers of Serious Misconduct. Few Were Punished.

These facts brought us the polticized, misunderstood, and ineptly misapplied media phrase “defund the police.”

An analysis by The New York Times found that the N.Y.P.D. has reduced or rejected recommendations for stiff discipline of officers in about 71 percent of 6,900 serious misconduct charges.
