He has a local MO reputation as the state head lawyer (Attorney General) of not enforcing civil rights of the wrongfully convicted and victims of police violence (as in deaths in police custody). He made the choice of actively participating in the Jan 06 2021 Capitol insurrection via his encouragement of the events outside the Capitol. His statements on that day lost him a book deal with a major publisher and extreme rancor from his betters in the US Congress.
