    One…um…factor is a holdover from the pre-scientific days. I remember fingerprint identification before the 2009 NAS Report, when fingerprint examiners were presumed to be 100% accurate and ANY mistake was a terrible problem. Then we had Brandon Mayfield and others, and people started talking about probability.
